What to make of Tim Walz?

Okay, so it is Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota. Count me among those who doesn’t know much about the Governor. Seems pretty non-controversial, is my first impression. Kind of like Tim Kaine. A likeable non-threatening white guy with a good Résumé.

I was kind of hoping for Mark Kelly. Naval captain, retired astronaut, husband of Gabby Giffords. His identical twin brother Scott Kelly set a record (along with a Russian cosmonaut) for the longest continuous time in space by commanding the International Space Station for a year. Scott wrote a book about it, an excellent book that I highly recommend. Endurance: A Year in Space, a Lifetime of Discovery.

Now that guy is a man, unlike that fat, nihilistic, overfed narcissist, that pretend superhero named Donald Trump. (That’s a story for another day).

But no matter. Tim Walz it is. It had to be someone that Kamala felt some personal connection with, and apparently she felt more of a personal connection with Walz than some of the other contenders.

When it comes to the importance of Vice Presidents, I actually kind of agree with Trump. I don’t think it’s that important in the contest. Most importantly a Vice President should (like the old Google slogan) “Do No Harm.”

Almost no one will be offended by the choice, and a few voters out there might be assuaged.

About a1skeptic

A disturbed citizen and skeptic. I should stop reading the newspaper. Or watching TV. I should turn off NPR and disconnect from the Internet. We’d all be better off.
