It’s never a good sign when politicians and stories about animals, or their pets, make headline news.
Think Mitt Romney and his dog in a pet carrier on the roof of his car.
Or puppy killer Kristi Noem.
And now, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
As if the worm eating his brain wasn’t bad enough, now it turns out that Kennedy dumped a six month old bear cub in Central Park that was apparently roadkill.
Seriously?
With an announcement on “X” Kennedy is apparently trying to get ahead of a story that is about to be published in the New Yorker.
According to the story this all happened about ten years ago, and made news in New York, as bear cubs don’t normally wander into Central Park. An investigation ensued but was not resolved. The story was also covered by (among other people) Tatiana Schlossberg, his niece, and the daughter of Caroline Kennedy.
Kennedy explained to Roseanne Barr (in the video that he posted) he was driving upstate early one morning to take a group of people falconing in the Hudson Valley when a driver in front of him fatally hit a bear cub. (Apparently it is legal in New York State to get a bear tag to take home a roadkill.) He pulled over to put the cub in his van because it was “in very good condition” and he was going to “skin it” and put the meat in his refrigerator.
Wait, RFK Jr. knows how to skin a bear cub?
I thought that Kennedy was an environmentalist.
And why is he making videos with Roseanna Barr?
In any case, somehow Kennedy got too busy and had to take a plane somewhere else and then thought of the brilliant idea of dumping the cub in Central Park.
Central Park?
Why didn’t he just dump it somewhere along the Hudson?
So many questions, so few answers.
I’m not a seer or a soothsayer, but I’m just going to predict that this is not going to help his political campaign.
