Pat Robertson passed away yesterday. And believe me when I say that I was not a fan. But I found it interesting how many memes came up on my feed saying, in essence, that the guy was burning in hell.

Hmm.

That seems a little unnecessary.

This is the guy who, as much as anybody else, politicized the evangelical wing of the American protestant church. Robertson said and did enough controversial things that Wikipedia has an entire page devoted to his controversies.

He was one of the major reasons that one can argue that churches should be taxed, just as any other entity that engages primarily in political advocacy.

Michelle Obama was the one who argued that when they go low, we go high. Not this time, apparently.

C’mon people, we can do better than this.
