Some people are just flat out liars and it’s time to call them out by name. One of those people is Tom Emmer, the Republican Representative for Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District. This morning, this asshole was on Weekend Edition Sunday with Lulu Garcia-Navarro, and he told two bold-faced lies relative to the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”):
- That Obamacare is a “failed” act, when actually, it provided access to health insurance for approximately 20 million Americans, prohibited insurers from refusing coverage for Americans with pre-existing conditions, expanded Medicaid to those who could not afford health insurance, and allowed parents to keep their children on their health insurance until they turned twenty-six;
- That Democrats refused to cooperate with Republicans in passing Obamacare, when it is well known that the Democrats were practically begging Republicans to participate in the discussions, all of whom refused because they did not want President Obama to get the political credit for finally passing a universal health insurance reform.
These are two well-worn Republican talking points, and both of them are just flat-out lies. And “gentlemen” who use them, like Rep. Tom Emmer, are just fucking flat out liars.
It’s time to call these people what they are, call them on their lies, and stop pussyfooting around with these professional liars and let them get away with this shit. This asshole’s twitter handle is @RepTomEmmer, and I think it’s time we let this asshole have it. I’m going to be sending some choice tweets his way, and I encourage everyone else to do so as well.
