This morning is not a good day to be an Englishman. First we had the “Brexit” vote last week, and the almost instant buyer’s remorse that overtook much of the country.
Now we have this: England loses 2:1 to Iceland in the UEFA Euro Championship.
You heard that right.
The country that “invented” football lost to a nation of roughly 332,530 people that “invented” Björk, and who can only play outdoors a few months a year.
Oh, will the misery never end?
Here’s a sentence that I wasn’t expecting to write anytime soon: the English actually have my sympathy this morning. God save the Queen.
