Today is a day to celebrate Hillary Clinton

I’ve been a “Bernie Bro” since before he announced his candidacy for the Presidency, but it’s time to give Hillary Clinton her due. This really is a historic moment, as she becomes the first major party nominee to be President of the United States.

She didn’t win because the system was rigged against Bernie.

She won because she really did get more people to vote for her.

Bernie has run a terrific race. He should continue to be a crucial voice for the Democrats in this upcoming election and beyond, and I hope he stays at the head of what is essentially a kind of new movement. He and Elizabeth Warren have taken up residency in the left wing of the party.[1]

But this is Hillary’s moment, and it’s well-deserved. She also has run a good campaign, and she is, as I’ve said before, the most qualified non-incumbent to run for the Presidency that we’ve ever had. The contrast between her and Donald Trump is shocking.

So today is a day to celebrate Hillary, and then we still have a long five months to go before the next President is actually elected.

[1] Let’s not forget that Bernie was a socialist and unaffiliated with the Democrats until shortly before he ran for the Presidency.

About a1skeptic

A disturbed citizen and skeptic. I should stop reading the newspaper. Or watching TV. I should turn off NPR and disconnect from the Internet. We’d all be better off.
