A liberal term for a conservative court

NPR ran an interesting story yesterday about how this was a liberal term for a conservative court.

No doubt, with the affirmation of the Affordable Care Act and the comprehensive legalization of gay marriage, this has been an interesting term.

2015-07-06_10-45-49Commentators have suggested that the split is between ideological  conservatives like Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Antonin Scalia and the more economic or pragmatic conservatives like John Roberts and Anthony Kennedy.

But don’t forget the awful campaign finance decisions as a quick reminder on how this is not a liberal court.

Next year the court will take up the abortion decision and questions of affirmative action, so stay tuned to that.

A disturbed citizen and skeptic. I should stop reading the newspaper. Or watching TV. I should turn off NPR and disconnect from the Internet. We’d all be better off.
