Just after the election, David Letterman said this in one of his monologues:
“Take a look at this: gas under $3 a gallon. Under $3 a gallon! Unemployment under 6%, whoever thought? Stock market breaking records every day! No wonder the guy is so unpopular.”
It did get me thinking about who was going to get the credit for the low gas prices. I remember Obama being excoriated during the 2012 elections for letting gas prices get so high. “The President,” I remember thinking at the time, “has nothing at all to do with the price of gas.” But try telling that to a Republican.
