If you’re like me, you sometimes wonder whether writing 100 postcards or contributing $25 for some $60,000 TV ad makes any difference at all. Well, I recently came across an organization that really seems to make a difference: it’s called Movement Voter PAC.
The basic idea is that this group maximizes donors’ impact by investing in local organizing where it matters most, using in-depth political analysis, aggregated polling, and on-the-ground insight. Their targets include:
- The “big nine” Presidential and Senate battlegrounds: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Ohio (Senate only), and Montana (Senate only).
- The roughly two-dozen most competitive House districts.
- Secondary battlegrounds with key down-ballot and long-term contests, especially control of state legislatures.
Is this guaranteed to be successful?
Nothing is guaranteed to be successful.
But these guys have been doing this for a long time, and seem to be very good at it. They use:
- Local Voter Organizing
- Limited Impact Political Ads
- Broad Political Targeting
- Down-Ballot Focus, Up-Ballot Turnout
- “State Ecosystem” Approach
They even have Impact Reports where you can read an analysis of the work that they have done.
I have never before promoted a particular political action committee on my blog, but in this year where democracy really is on the ballot, at least here in the United States, I feel like this organization is worthy enough to promote.
Please note, you have to be a citizen of the United States to give to any political action committee, including the Movement Voter PAC. So for my readers overseas, maybe just encourage your American friends to check this organization out.
And finally, if you do decide to contribute and they ask how you heard about their PAC, let them know that the A1Skeptic sent you.
