We Really Are a Bunch of Idiots

It’s long been axiomatic to praise the “common sense” of the American voter, and especially the “common sense” of working class voters, who allegedly can see through the biases of the elite.

Don’t you believe it.

Collectively, we’re a bunch of fucking idiots.

For instance, in a recent New York Times/Siena College poll, allegedly this was the response to the question of who is more responsible for ending Roe:

Seventeen percent of Americans think that Joe Biden was responsible for Roe being overturned?

Collectively, we’re a bunch of fucking idiots.

Then there is the answer to this question, how was the economy under Trump as opposed to under Biden:

The economy is, of course, something with an awful lot of measurable data. In almost every way, the economy is better now than it was under Trump, who completely mishandled the response to the pandemic.

For those who don’t remember, we couldn’t find toilet paper on Trump, and had massive supply chain issues which Trump did nothing to help alleviate.

But a lot of people “feel” that it was better then.

So, how can I put this politely?

Collectively, we’re a bunch of fucking idiots.

First of all, Presidents get way too much credit and way too much blame for the economy, which Presidents are not in charge of. Businesses are mostly in charge of the economy.

Second of all, Biden is not responsible for the current issues with inflation.

The governmental response to inflation is mostly handled by the Federal Reserve, and the current chairman of the Federal Reserve is Jerome Powell, who was appointed by Trump.

So there.

Third of all, our issue with inflation is mostly caused by corporate greed, and not any mishandling of the economy by Joe Biden.

What  can I say about this?

Well, collectively, we’re a bunch of fucking idiots.

There is very little common sense left in the American voter. Many Americans have been successfully propagandized, especially on the right, by a factually devoid campaign of lies that blames the “other guy” for whatever ails them. Most Christian voters have long ago abandoned the Jesus Christ of the Bible in favor of a misogynistic warrior mentality which justifies their unwillingness to let anyone else get ahead because “those” people might get a slice of the pie they think they are entitled to.

This is why there is now the classic meme, that when someone meets a Christian, the question is “classic Jesus or Republican Jesus?”

And here we are.
