Hillary and the 17 Dwarves

It’s going to be Hillary and the 17 Dwarves. I can feel it already. Two of the dwarves are in the race already: that would be the Cuban boys, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. The latter is at least more likable than the former. Or may I should say, less dislikable.

One other thing that I’m feeling is the response from women towards Hillary. I’m sensing that there are a lot of women out there who are really getting behind Hillary. They’re saying that it’s our time. And they’re not going to find a woman who — whatever else you think of her — is more qualified then Hillary Clinton.

Of course, there are still 575 days to go until November 8, 2016. As some commentators have pointed out, there’s hardly anyone who hasn’t already formed an opinion about Hillary Clinton. It’s not like she’s going to be able to move a boatload of undecided voters, no matter how much money she spends.

Speaking of that, I heard something just great on On Point today. It was a discussion of Clinton’s campaign, and the guests were Howard Fineman, editorial director of the Huffington Post Group, (@howardfineman), Ruth Marcus, columnist for the Washington Post. (@ruthmarcus), and Bill Curry, columnist for Salon.com. (@billcurryct). In any case, Bill Curry said one of the most incisive things I’ve ever heard (check at 39:45 of the recording below).

He said, “People who think you can raise two-and-half billion from Wall Street and then go fight for the middle class are like people who think that you can smoke crack and still be a good parent.”

And Howard Fineman chimed in with, that if the Republics are “married” to Wall Street, the Democrats are at least Wall Street’s “mistress.”

Bill Curry also reminded the Democrats that they “first have to get some convictions and then the courage can follow.”

All fair points, I fear. There is still a long, long road to go before anyone, including Hillary Clinton, is elected the next President of the United States.
