I basically took the last week off from politics, as I just couldn’t take it anymore. I was burnt out. I needed a break. So, what has happened in the last week? Let’s take a look:
- Brussels suffered a devastating terror attack at both their main airport and one of their subways. In these attacks, at least 35 victims and three suicide bombers were killed, and over 300 people were injured.
- Lahore, Pakistan, also suffered a terrorist attack, where at least 72 people were killed and over 300 injured in a suicide bombing that hit the main entrance of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, where Christians were celebrating Easter.[1]
- Not to be left out, at least 30 people are killed in a suicide attack on a football stadium south of Baghdad, Iraq. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant claimed responsibility for attack.
Closer to home, in the campaign that just won’t end, I hear that Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are in some kind of war of words over their wives. Not quite sure what the issue is, but the New York Times reported that “Donald J. Trump and Senator Ted Cruz of Texas traded insults on Easter Sunday morning over recent smears against their wives.”
On Easter morning. Really.
Aren’t these guys supposed to be some kind of Christians?
I hear that Trump has been insinuating that Cruz has had more than one affair. That would be some delicious come-uppance for Mr. Self-Righteous, if it turns out to be true.
However, very little that the Donald has said has turned out to be true.
The only piece of good news is that a little bird landed on Bernie Sanders’ podium during a Sanders rally in Portland Oregon. And the meme “Birdie Sanders” was born.
Oh, and Bernie absolutely cleaned up in the caucus states of Washington, Alaska and Hawaii. Absolutely cleaned up. But Hillary still has the delegate math on her side.
Is it any wonder that I have tuned out the news for week. It might be time to tune out for a year, if I didn’t have a blog to write. LOL!
[1] However, Pakistani security officials reported that mostly Muslims were killed in the attack, with the majority of victims being women and children.
